FAQs

  • No, I do not accept any insurance plans. You are welcome to request a superbill, which documents the services that were provided. You can then submit that to your insurance company directly to receive partial reimbursement for the cost of services as long as you have out-of-network benefits. I recommend contacting your insurance company to learn more about reimbursement options. Please be aware that insurance will not cover the cost of EMDR intensives as there are no procedural codes for this service.

  • Absolutely! It’s very important to be sure you feel comfortable with your provider and trust they have the skill set to best serve you. I provide a free 30-minute Meet & Greet session for each new client. This gives us the opportunity to see if we are a good fit, learn about how I can help you and get all of your questions answered about the services I offer. I always provide referrals to other therapists in the area if I feel like I can’t provide you with what you need to effectively meet your goals in therapy.

  • As a general rule, I like to see my clients weekly for at least the two months. This helps us build rapport, get clear on what you want to get out of therapy, and start making progress towards creating change in your life. I see the majority of my clients on a weekly basis throughout their participation in therapy because it affords them the opportunity to fully reap the benefits of our work together. When you reach a point where weekly therapy sessions no longer feel necessary, we can discuss reducing frequency to every other week, or even once monthly depending on your needs.

  • I accept all major credit cards as well as HSA and FSA cards. Clients are required to have a card on file at the start of our work together.

  • I ask for 24 hours notice of any cancelations. A fee of $175 will be imposed if a session is canceled with less than 24 hours of advanced noticed or is no showed. This fee is only waived if we are able to reschedule it within the same week.

  • You most certainly can! I have been providing remote EMDR Therapy since March 2020. You are welcome to use self tapping or an online source (I will provide you) to access bilateral stimulation. Recent research is showing remote EMDR Therapy is just as effective as doing it in person, so as long as you have a safe, private, comfortable place, we can certainly do EMDR Therapy.

Brainspotting has also been proven effective when delivered remotely.

So regardless of where you may be located in Maine, Massachusetts , or DC, you have access to these transformational therapies.

  • While some therapists consider themselves generalists, other therapists focus their practice on helping one or two different populations or presenting concerns. For example, some might focus on only working with first responders or veterans. Others might only work with children or individuals who struggle with OCD. It’s very helpful for us to find our niche because it allows us to focus our training solely in that area. I have spent the last ten years immersing myself in trainings and certifications related to trauma recovery and women’s mental health. This supports my ability to confidently and effectively guide my ideal client through their process of meeting and even exceeding their therapeutic goals. I believe everyone seeking and participating in therapy deserves to receive the very best care by a highly skilled therapist, which is why I refer clients out when they do not fall within my scope of practice.

  • PMH-C is a designation given to providers who are certified in perinatal mental health. These providers have engaged in additional training in the specialty area of perinatal mood & anxiety disorders and successfully passed a proctored exam.
